Wingspan: 44-48mm

Imago: Univoltine, a species of meadows, downland and wasteland, the male can be seen flying at dusk and both the male and female are attracted to light.

Larva: Feed on various grasses and a variety of wild and cultivated plants such as dock (Rumex) and burdock (Arctium lappa)

Overwinter: As a larva, normally for two years.
